Current US Senate North Carolina Polling

Human Events and Gravis Marketing conducted a random survey of 1,380 registered voters in North Carolina regarding statewide candidates by automated IVR calls of likely voters between 7/22/14 and 7/27/14.  The poll carries a margin of error of  3% with a 95% confidence level. The results follow.

Regarding the Senate race in the telephone survey, voters were asked, “If the election for Senate were held today and the candidates were Republican Thom Tillis and Democrat Kay Hagan, whom would you vote for?” Incumbent Kay Hagan (D) holds a 3-point margin over Thom Tillis (R) (44% to 41%) with 15% expressing uncertainty.

In the contest for Governor, voters were asked, “If the election for Governor were held today and the candidates were Republican Pat McCrory and Democrat Roy Cooper, whom would you vote for?”  Roy Cooper (D) leads incumbent Governor Pat Mcrory (R) 46% to 44% with 10% expressing uncertainty.

Concerning the 2016 presidential race, voters were asked, “If the election for President were held today and the candidates were Republican Rand Paul and Democrat Hillary Clinton, whom would you vote for?’ Hillary Clinton (D) leads Rand Paul (R) by two points (45% to 43%) with 11% expressing uncertainty.  In an alternative question, respondents were polled on a matchup between Rand Paul and Elizabeth Warren (D). These results revealed voters favoring Paul by a 9-point margin over Warren (44% to 35%) with 21% expressing uncertainty.

Voters were also surveyed on a policy question concerning online gambling. Respondents were asked, “Regarding the Senate race voters were asked, “Should Congress pass legislation overriding the ability of states to legalize and regulate online gambling?”  47% of voters indicated that they were unsure on the issue while 36% opposed such a measure while only 17% stated they supported it.
