Executive Summary (Public Opinion Poll)

Human Events and Gravis Marketing conducted a random survey of 683 registered Republican voters regarding current events  The poll carries a margin of error of 4%. 1153 voters completed the poll for the General election question.The poll was conducted 12-29-2013-12-31-2013 and 1-2-2014. Overall, the results are:

  • The vast majority do not support federal involvement in videos games or gun purchases, with only 27% in favor of federal regulation of video games and only 25% in favor of the federal government approving firearm purchases;
  •  Only 37%  think mothers should be ordered into combat zones;
  • A large majority do not support amnesty for illegal aliens, with 82% opposed to such an idea;
  • Mitch McConnell holds an 59% to 26% advantage in a race between him and John Calipari;
  • McConnell’s advantage  weakens when running against Matt Bevin, at 53% to 31%;
  • Less than half of respondents think McConnell is as conservative today as he was when first elected (29%);
  • A majority think McConnell is not doing enough to end Obamacare (59%).
